Name.com is a domain registrar which auctions off thousands of expiring domains that were not renewed by its customers. On the first day of the auction, a domain can be bought for $129. After 24 hours, the price is reduced to $79. After another 24 hours the price of the domain is reduced to $39. After another day, $19.99 and on the list day, $11.99. It is up to you, whether you buy the domain earlier for a higher price, or wait until the price reduces in the hope that no-one else buys it in the mean time.
If you buy a domain, the price includes renewal for 12 months.
You can see name.com's expiring domain auctions here. You can see that for each domain, the traffic is shown. I think this represents name.com's estimate of the monthly unique visitors to the domain. If a hyphen is shown, it means the domain gets no visitors.
Each day I take all the expiring domains being auctioned at name.com and find what I think are the best few domains every day. Every day, there are an average of about 3 domains that are identified. Occasionally, there may not be any domains. Every day, I will post to this blog my list. If you decide to register a domain, I'd very much much appreciate it if you could make a donation to me of at least $1.
The criteria for a domain making my list is either it is a short domain:
- a numerical .com with 5 or less digits (e.g. 123455.com)
- or a 4 letter .com (e.g. abcd.com)
- or a 3 letter .com, .net or .org domain (e.g. abc.net)
- or a 3 digit .com, .net or .org domain (e.g. 123.org)
- or a 3 character .com (e.g. a2c.com)
- or a 2 character domain in any tld by .tel (e.g. a3.us)
- Non-zero traffic, a page rank of at least 1 and Alexa Rank better than 5 million. In this case, page rank and alexa rank will be shown in the daily list.
