Daily lists of the best domain names available on name.com expiring auctions

Name.com is a domain registrar and every day it auctions off thousands of expiring domains that were not renewed by its customers. Name.com's asking price for each domain declines over a period of 5 days, until the domain is sold. You can see these auctions here.

Each day I will post to this blog my list of the best domains that are available in these auctions. If you decide to register a domain, I'd very much much appreciate it if you could make a donation to me of at least $1.

Daily lists of the best domain names available on name.com expiring auctions

Name.com is a domain registrar which auctions off thousands of expiring domains that were not renewed by its customers. On the first day of the auction, a domain can be bought for $129. After 24 hours, the price is reduced to $79. After another 24 hours the price of the domain is reduced to $39. After another day, $19.99 and on the list day, $11.99. It is up to you, whether you buy the domain earlier for a higher price, or wait until the price reduces in the hope that no-one else buys it in the mean time.

If you buy a domain, the price includes renewal for 12 months.

You can see name.com's expiring domain auctions here. You can see that for each domain, the traffic is shown. I think this represents name.com's estimate of the monthly unique visitors to the domain. If a hyphen is shown, it means the domain gets no visitors.

Each day I take all the expiring domains being auctioned at name.com and find what I think are the best few domains every day. Every day, there are an average of about 3 domains that are identified. Occasionally, there may not be any domains. Every day, I will post to this blog my list. If you decide to register a domain, I'd very much much appreciate it if you could make a donation to me of at least $1.

The criteria for a domain making my list is either it is a short domain:
  •  a numerical .com with 5 or less digits (e.g. 123455.com)
  •  or a 4 letter .com (e.g. abcd.com)
  •  or a 3 letter .com, .net or .org domain (e.g. abc.net)
  •  or a 3 digit .com, .net or .org domain (e.g. 123.org)
  •  or a 3 character .com (e.g. a2c.com)
  •  or a 2 character domain in any tld by .tel (e.g. a3.us)
or it is a domain that seems to have been a website in the past:
  • Non-zero traffic, a page rank of at least 1 and Alexa Rank better than 5 million. In this case, page rank and alexa rank will be shown in the daily list.
If you think these criteria should be changed or other types of domains should also be in the list, please tell me in the comments.
